Summary:
Must conduct Quality Control and physical testing of polyurethane material including polyurethane rubber, mold release agents, etc.
, for both Production and Research and Development (R&D) in accordance with existing quality management system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all duties and responsibilities of Assistant Laboratory Technician.
Follow Quality Control Plans for specific material testing and specifications.
General preparation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control.
Follow written ISO procedures for analysis and testing.
Test and analyze products to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics.
Document results of test and analysis accurately and neatly on written worksheet and computer hardcopy Prepare chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
Inventory of lab supplies and chemicals.
Notify proper authority of lab results and record findings as necessary on batch sheet.
Conduct necessary performance and calibration procedures.
Verify incoming raw materials with Raw Material Specifications.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh school or GED, or at least five years laboratory work experience in polyurethane rubber technology and quality control testing.
Must attend all Safety Training programs including Mill Safety Instructions in accordance with Department Training Plan.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel or have sufficient training in Work and/or Excel.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and write English.
Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Material Safety Data Sheet, written instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must be computer literate with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and simple math.
Ability to convert units of measure (12th grade math level).
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
