CNA Memory Care PRN / FLEX Evening shift

Position Summary:
The Resident Care Assistant or CNA will act as a universal worker engaging residents in activities, performing light housekeeping, and assisting residents with activities of daily living in the most respectful and compassionate way possible.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADL's) including, but not limited to: assisting with meals as needed, assisting bathing by washing and drying areas of the body that are difficult to reach, assisting in toileting, assisting residents with oral hygiene, etc.
Assist residents with transfers as needed (i.e., in getting in and out of beds, wheelchairs, bathtubs, etc.)
Changes bed linens and assists to maintain tidiness of resident suites and common areas.
If resident care assistant has a CNA certificate, takes vital signs (i.e., blood pressure, pulse, and temperature monitoring) and records per policy.
Promptly responds to all resident care needs.
Shows genuine interest in residents, engages in meaningful conversation and activities related to residents' individual interests.
Facilitates and participates in resident group activities and encourages residents to participate.
Participates in resident care meetings as requested by the Director of Memory Care.
Assists with preparing, plating/serving meals and snacks for residents.
Supports new residents in the move in and adjustment process.
Continually observes residents' behavior; promptly reports changes to supervisor.
Charting requested information as required (i.e., monthly weights, changes in moods, meal consumption, liquid intake, bowel and bladder patterns, etc.)
Receives resident status report at the beginning of shift and gives report at the end of shift. Ensures open lines of communication between shifts and departments.
Handles post mortem care.
Make rounds at least every hour, on all shifts.
Responds calmly and effectively to emergency situations, implements live saving measures if appropriate.
Ensure established safety, infection control and universal precaution guidelines are followed when performing duties.
Assists in training and welcoming new employees.
Minimizes slow periods with preparation activities to meet future needs of the department and/or resident (i.e., education, organizing, housekeeping, assisting others).
Portrays a professional approach to position to residents, family, visitors, and coworkers.
Assists in ensuring the safety of staff, residents, and visitors by identifying potential safety hazards to immediate supervisor and following all emergency plans (i.e., evacuation, hurricane, etc.)
Honor Resident Bill of Rights.
Supports Mease Manor's mission and vision.
As a legal and moral responsibility, immediately reports all witnessed or suspected resident abuse, neglect, exploitation or misappropriation of funds to department director.
All other duties as assigned.
Credentials/Experience:
Two years of dementia care experience preferred.
Complete required dementia training upon hire, according to State regulations.

Required Pre-employment Drug Testing and Level 2 Background Screening:
All applicants must pass a level 2 background screening and a drug test before beginning work. Refusal to submit to testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
